Year-End Tax Strategies
Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund: In 2021 the State of Ohio created a scholarship granting organization (SGO) program. This program allows Ohio taxpayers to donate to a K-12 SGO for the school to use for scholarships for tuition based on financial need. The donor then receives a dollar-for-dollar non-refundable tax credit on their Ohio state tax return up to $750 ($1500 if married and filing jointly). This is in addition to a federal tax deduction you are always able to take.
The Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund (under the Diocesan Education Corporation) is certified as an SGO by the Ohio Attorney General. This fund solely benefits students in the Diocese of Columbus Catholic schools. All donations will be managed through the Emmaus Road Scholarship Fund. Parishioners, family, and friends can donate and directly designate one of the Tuscarawas County Catholic schools as the recipient of their donation. 100% of the funds will be sent to our schools the following tax year.
Remember to keep Sacred Heart in your Christmas/Year-End giving plans. Each gift to Sacred Heart is tax deductible. Thank you for your tremendous, continued support of Sacred Heart Church!
You may also give through the Catholic Foundation to the Parish endowment, which supports the parish for future needs. If you would like to support Sacred Heart Parish, please contact Matt Fantin at the parish office and we will work with you and your financial advisor to select the best course of action for you. Don’t forget that all transfers/donations must be completed by Dec 31st to qualify and note that the parish offices will be closed between Dec 30th and Jan 2nd.
